The
type of pond you have and the type of fish you have greatly determine
the type of fish
pond supplies that you need.
To keep your fish healthy and happy, look into getting
fish food, biological medium, bacteria, a filter, plants, a skimmer,
and a pump.
If you have a medium or large pond (generally described
as over 1000 gallons), you may want to get an external pond pump.
For smaller pumps, a submersible pump is generally preferred. No matter
which type of pump you get, be sure to get one that circulates all
of the water of your pond at least once within an hour. So, if you
have a 1000 gallon pond, you want a 1000 GPH (gallon per hour) pump.
Also consider seasonal fish pond supplies, like de-icers,
pond netting (to keep autumn leaves out of the water), and other such
items.
Of course, there are also fish pond supplies that you
may desire that are more for the aesthetic beauty of your pond than
for the health of your fish. For instance, pond lights are a wonderful
addition, making your water feature more visible and beautiful at
night.
