Fountain
pumps are necessary to run the water of fountains. There
are a few different types of fountain pumps on the market - the one
that you choose will depend greatly upon the type of fountain that
you have or want.
- Direct-drive - the majority of pumps in the past have been of this
variety. They are for medium to large size fountains. The motor of
this type of pump is enclosed in an oil-filled waterproof shell that
is well-sealed around the impeller shaft and cord.
- Magnetic drive - the use of these has allowed the building of much
smaller, tabletop size fountains. The size and output power is much
more conducive to small fountains than the abovementioned type of
fountain pump. These "magnetic drive" pumps are so called
because the impeller is attached to a magnet...
- Solar powered - solar powered pumps are a great option for people
who want a fountain in the far reaches of their yards, places where
there is no electricity. And because these pumps do not require electricity,
they are relatively easy to install, too. Solar powered fountain pumps
consist of a low voltage pump and a solar panel (and ones that run
at night also include a battery pack).
