Preformed pond spillways are beautiful, yet relatively easy, additions to a pond. Of course, you need not focus solely on the beauty that a spillway can add to your garden pond, but also realize that they will give you the benefits of proper aeration.

As you likely already know, a healthy pond (especially one with fish) needs well-aerated water.

Most pond spillways can be set up on a weekend afternoon. You need only to attach the pump return line to the spillway box (most spillways will come with the necessary fittings). Then you bury the box partially into the ground where you desire to have the waterfall.

Lastly (and perhaps most importantly), you need to use rocks and vegetation to cover the box. You want to be sure that any pond spillways you add to your pond look as natural as possible.
