The main difference between pressurized pond filters and gravity flow filters is that the latter must be placed above the area that they are flowing into. This is because the water flows via the laws of gravity, and the water cannot be pushed upwards.

Pressurized pond filters, on the other hand, utilize pressure. Therefore, they can be placed at ground level or lower and push water up to the start of a waterfall, etc. Most can be partially buried.

Pressurized filters are popular for small ponds, greatly because they are easy both to hide and to maintain. To lessen how often you need to clean your filter, consider using one that is for double the volume of your pond (i.e. a 2000 gph rating on a 1000 gallon pond).
